Hello there folks
we are arriving from SF to BKK in about a month and are thinking to just keep going to Chiang Mai all in one day.
Might as well get to where we want to be instead of spending time acclimating in Bangkok.
We are looking for a nice sweet spot to land and feel welcome and relaxed.
We traveled through Cambodia and Vietnam last year and stayed in some really great places.
Any recommendations under $50 a night?
thanks!

Re: a nice spot to land in Chiang Mai?
Fri, June 20, 2008 - 3:59 PMThere's been a veritable explosion of nice boutique-ish hotels in Chiang Mai over the past few years, and US $50's enough to give you a wide range of options. I'd probably try the Buri Gallery House, not far from Wat Phra Singh, where rooms start around THB950 this time of year. Nice, slightly funky, traditional Lanna-inspired art and architecture. Closer to the river, a bit less interesting, but very relaxing the one time I stayed there, is the Galare Guest House, where prices are similar. -

I was hoping it was you who would respond, and what a nice hotel that is!
thank you so much.
I have a million questions for you but I will just do my research...
thanks!
