So, is this a bad time to visit? I have been reading the Thai news and it sounds like turmoil has not died down over the political situation. I have been planning this trip for a long time and bought my tickets over three months ago but, I will change my ticket, if need be.

Any insight from the tribe is much appreciated!

I am presently in Bangkok, got in yesterday.

Suvarnabhumi International Airport is open, up and running, as are all the land transportation to and from it. Every single Thai person in Bangkok I have met looks very happy to welcome international visitors/tourists to their capital. Tourism is a major source of livelihood and income for Thailand.

That said, there are reports that protests are in the works against the newly installed PM who is of the group/party that previously protested and shut down airports in Bangkok. The PAD drew its support primarily from the capital, Bangkok, whereas the previous PMs' parties were primarily supported by the outlying regions.

I will update this thread should anything of concern to travelers arise in the next coupla days.
