Re: Money Exchange - traveler's checks VS cash
Thu, April 24, 2008 - 11:17 AMIt's hard to say from this page on Siam Commercial Bank's website what they give or Traveler's Checks vs. cash...
www.scb.co.th/exchange/bk...exchange.htm
"Notes" is obviously for cash (but not sure if it inlcudes travelers checks or those are lumped with D/D & T/T). Anyway is useful to see that if you're exchanging cash, there is a slight advantage to exhanging bigger bills, which is what I prefer.. You usually end up paying something to purchase the travellers checks and if you use ATMs, your bank will hit you with a foreign exchange processing fee. So, cash is simple if you're comfortable with that & know how to keep it safe.

Re: Money Exchange - traveler's checks VS cash
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 6:42 AMjust got back..didn't use traveler's checks or see the rate for them, but as mentioned above, using $50 or $100 bills gets a better exchange rate than $20 or smaller. It's about 31 baht to a $1 or so right now for those big bills. -

Re: Money Exchange - traveler's checks VS cash
Sat, April 26, 2008 - 12:43 AMthe easiest and I think cheapest is using your debit card on ATM's saves all the hassle of having too much cash in your pocket, I never have any problems doing that and ATM's are even in the smallest villages. -
